Television and digital industry veteran Rick Holzman has been named SVP of programming and strategy for Discovery, Inc. lifestyle network TLC, effective immediately.

Based at Discovery’s New York headquarters, Holzman will be responsible for the network’s multi-platform programming strategy and scheduling. In addition, he will also work with the development and production leadership team, and will play a crucial role in supporting the expansion of the TLC brand across all media platforms.

Reporting into TLC president and GM Howard Lee, Holzman will also manage the integration of revenue-related functions.

Most recently, Holzman was president of Riff Media LLC, and was last under the Discovery, Inc. umbrella in 2016, when he served as GM of Animal Planet. He’s also held senior programming roles at that network, Science Channel and Discovery Channel, as well as senior programming positions at MTV Networks and NBCUniveral Television.

“Rick’s deep expertise in growing multi-platform brands and developing fan-focused content and scheduling strategies, combined with his passion for Discovery brands, make him the perfect choice to oversee program strategy for TLC,” said Lee in a statement.
