UK pubcaster BBC3 has ordered an hour-long documentary from multi-platform media company Lightbox Entertainment set to follow multifaceted actor and radio presenter Mim Shaikh as he searches for his father.

The tentatively titled Finding Dad will trace Shaikh (pictured), the BBC Radio 1Xtra personality, as he navigates the trials and tribulations of his personal journey to track down and meet his biological father for the first time.

The one-off documentary special is directed by Lottie Gammon and executive produced by Suzanne Lavery, Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn.

Lightbox was founded in November 2013 by Academy Award- and Emmy-winning producers and cousins Jonathan Chinn and Simon Chinn. The Los Angeles- and London-based studio has produced National Geographic’s archive-driven LA 92, ESPN’s Fantastic Lies, Channel 4′s War Child and is currently in production on Kevin MacDonald’s documentary, Whitney Houston.
