Global investor, producer and distributor The Story Lab has expanded its global reach to the U.S. marketplace and appointed entertainment and marketing exec Tom Sebastian as president of the company’s American operations.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, The Story Lab U.S. will look to invest in U.S. scripted and non-scripted entertainment properties with the potential to attract audiences for domestic and international media owners, audiences and brands.
Sebastian (pictured) will join the Dentsu Aegis Network-owned firm with responsibility for leading its premium non-scripted and scripted strategy for investment in TV, film and digital throughout the U.S.
In addition, he will be tasked with managing new partnership agreements with broadcasters, agencies, talent and prodcos to invest in, acquire and create original content with.
He reports to Nick Brien, CEO of Americas Dentsu Aegis Network, and to Michael Iskas, president of The Story Lab Global.
Sebastian most recently served as co-CEO of creative agency SwirlMcGarryBowen, which was acquired by Dentsu in 2017. Prior to this, he led creative development at WME for its corporate consulting division.
He has previous production industry experience having held a variety of production roles at Lifetime Television, Whittle Communications, The Health Channel, Sonalysts Studios and Time Life Medical.
