UK pubcaster Channel 4 has ordered a car-build show from new indie East Media.

Mission Ignition (4 x 60 minutes) will give two teams of amateur car fans the chance to drive off in their dream cars – but first, they must rebuild them.

The show will see classic car collector, amateur racing driver and member of British pop group Take That, Howard Donald, and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti lead two teams who will put classic cars back together. The first team to rebuild the car and start its engine gets to keep it.

Mission Ignition will also take a look at the history of the cars, celebrating the machines and their makers.

The series was ordered by Channel 4 head of formats, Dom Bird, and commissioning editor for formats, Jonny Rothery.

This program is the first terrestrial commission for East Media, led by MD Nathan Eastwood.
