Discovery Channel has commissioned Rogue Atlas, in association with Lionsgate Television, to produce a series that explores the making of elite military weapons.

Titled Mad Dog Made, the series will follow weapons crafter Kevin ‘Mad Dog’ McClung, who draws from his extensive paramilitary expertise to fabricate cutting-edge, hand-held weapons and tools for soldiers in action.

Each episode of the series will see Mad Dog and his team – including his daughter and master apprentice Morgan – pushing the limits of possibility to equip everyone from first responders to U.S. Special Forces with high-grade, one-of-a-kind gadgets that can get the job done in less than three minutes.

Unique builds include a life-saving device that reinvents the “Jaws of Life” and is used to rescue victims from car accidents; a Mars multi-tool compatible with an astronaut’s pressurized space suit; and a protection apparatus for bush pilots to use against predators in the event of a crash landing in the wilderness.

Mad Dog Made premieres August 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery, Inc.’s flagship channel.

Rogue Atlas’ Eli Frankel, David Shaye and Graham Hughes serve as executive producers. Joseph Boyle and Michael Gara are exec producers for Discovery Channel, with Maryna Harrison serving as producer.
