France-based indie Federation Entertainment has launched its documentary venture with a premium docuseries that will offer an insider’s view into the preparation of France’s World Cup championship.

Federation Entertainment and Yvette Production inked an exclusive partnership last spring with the French Football Federation to coproduce Les Bleus: At the Heart of a Russian Epic (Les Bleus 2018: Au Cœur de l’Épopée Russe), which follows the journey of the French team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Directors Emmanuel Le Ber and Théo Schuster lived with the French football team for more than two months, following the athletes, their coach Didier Deschamps, and their staff in their everyday prep in Clairefontaine, France and throughout Russia.

Les Bleus will air on French pubcaster TF1 as a two-hour primetime special tonight.

Amazon Prime Video in France, meanwhile, will then broadcast the project as a 4 x 30-minute docuseries after taking second window rights throughout the country from July 20 and first window rights in the rest of the world. The docuseries will be available to stream internationally starting Oct. 1, except Brazil where it will be released on Jan. 1, 2019.
