A+E Networks-owned cable channel A&E has commissioned Wolf Reality and 44 Blue Productions to produce a spin-off of its reality docuseries Nightwatch.

The 10-part series Nightwatch Nation follows EMT workers in Yonkers, New York; Austin, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana as they risk their lives to work the busiest shift of the day – the overnight.

Cameras capture EMT workers in action: from treating an active stroke victim in Yonkers, to trying to treat a heroin overdose with Narcan to save a patient’s life in Baton Rouge. Elsewhere, paramedics face an Internal Defibrillator that unexpectedly malfunctions in Tucson and a multiple-car crash in Austin.

Hopping from city to city, the series follows multiple teams as they work to keep American’s safe.

Executive producers for Wolf Reality are Dick Wolf and Tom Thayer. Executive producers for 44 Blue are Rasha Drachkovitch and Robyn Younie. Executive producers for A&E Network are Devon Graham Hammonds and Molly Ebinger.

Nightwatch Nation expands on A&E’s Nightwatch – also from Wolf Reality and 44 Blue, a Red Arrow Studios company – which premiered in 2015 and focuses on EMT workers in Florida and Louisiana.

A+E Networks will distribute the spin-off series internationally.

Nightwatch Nation premieres Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
