Science Channel preps MythBusters Jr.

Discovery-owned Science Channel is prepping MythBusters Jr., a series that will give talented youths a chance to show off their ingenuity and STEAM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).

Hosted by former MythBusters presenter Adam Savage, the 10-episode series from Beyond Productions features six kids (pictured) who will tackle myths similar to those seen in MythBusters, ranging from driving, explosions, chemistry, physics, pop culture and more.

John Luscombe and John Tessier are executive producers for Beyond Productions. Wyatt Channell serves as executive producer for Science Channel.

MythBusters Jr. is currently in production and is slated to premiere on Science Channel in Q4 2018.

Alfred Haber inks int’l sales for Elton John doc

Distributor Alfred Haber has inked a raft of international sales for Leon Knoles’ documentary special Elton John: I’m Still Standing – A Grammy Salute.

The two-hour primetime one-off will celebrate the career of the seminal Elton John, a five-time Grammy Award-winner and one-time Academy Award-winner. The film features renditions of the pianist and composer’s songs by a variety of singers, including Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, Ed Sheehan, Sam Smith, and the icon himself.

Key broadcasters who have signed on for this doc include Nine Network in Australia, Rogers in Canada, ITV in the UK, WOWOW in Japan, CStar in France, M-Net in South Africa, TV New Zealand, TV2 in Denmark, RTE in Ireland, NRK in Norway and NPO3 in the Netherlands.

Alfred Haber has previously repped the international distribution of other TV specials presented by the Recording Academy, including The Beatles: The Night That Changed America — A Grammy Salute, Stevie Wonder: Songs In The Key Of Life — An All-Star Grammy Salute, and Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute To The Music of The Bee Gees.

Dogwoof to distribute Bobby Robson doc 

London-based indie and sport-focused prodco Noah Media Group has appointed documentary distributor Dogwoof as the international distributor for its acclaimed film Bobby Robson: More Than A Manager.

Directed by Gabriel Clarke and Torquil Jones (Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans), the film serves as an intimate portrait of the former English football player Bobby Robson, narrated by the man himself. The 104-minute doc features unseen archive of his public and private life, including his numerous battles with cancer and the establishment of the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Foundation. The film also features exclusive interviews with Sir Alex Ferguson, José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Paul Gascoigne, Brazilian superstar Ronaldo, Gary Lineker and England great Alan Shearer.

Bobby Robson: More Than A Manager is produced by John McKenna and Victoria Barrell from Noah Media Group.

Dogwoof will handle the television and SVOD rights for the documentary internationally, as well as in the UK.

The film is being distributed in Britain via Noah Media Group’s distribution arm NoahX as a nationwide release via iTunes and Amazon, along with a select theatrical run.
