Hannah Barnes will be leaving her role as group general manager of the Lifestyle group at Australian pay-TV company Foxtel.
Barnes, who has been with the Lifestyle group for nine years, announced to her colleagues that she would depart at the end of October to start the next chapter of her career in the UK and Australia. She did not specify her future plans.
Before assuming her role as general manager in 2014, Barnes worked as head of programming at Lifestyle.
In an email to staff, Brian Walsh, executive director of television at Foxtel, commended Barnes on her stewardship of the Lifestyle brand, listing standout commissions like Grand Designs Australia, Selling Houses, River Cottage, Village Vets, Great Australian Bake Off and Gogglebox.
He also acknowledged her championing of Love It or List It, which premiered as the highest rated Lifestyle production in Foxtel’s history.
“Hannah has made an indelible mark on the success of the genre over the course of her stewardship and the Lifestyle group is the envy of our competitors. Her craftsmanship is admired throughout our industry, both here in Australia and internationally,” said Walsh in the staff email. “She has continuously made insightful acquisition decisions and brought the Lifestyle brands to life through broadcast, digital, marketing and live events.
“Hannah leaves us with the channels in great shape and on behalf of everyone at Foxtel I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude for her hard work, dedication and leadership.”
Foxtel has not yet announced a replacement for Barnes.
