UK pubcaster Channel 4 has appointed Sean Doyle as the broadcaster’s deputy head of features and formats.

In the newly established role, Doyle will work alongside Channel 4′s newly appointed head of features and formats, Sarah Lazenby across the department’s slate of programming. He will be tasked with shepherding the features and formats’ work with nations and regions producers.

Doyle is based in Belfast and will continue to divide his time between London and the nations and regions.

Doyle joins from Channel 5 where he is currently a commissioning editor working various genres. While at C5, he revamped Blind Date and its move into Saturday night entertainment programming. Doyle also commissioned Gino’s Win Your Wish ListJo Brand’s Cats & Kittens and the RTS-winning In Solitary: The Anti-Social Experiment.

He also oversaw brands such as Police Interceptors, The Dog Rescuers, Extreme Railway Journeys with Chris Tarrant and the relaunch of The Gadget Show with Craig Charles.

Prior to his post at C5, Doyle was head of development for BBC features formats and daytime and created Portillo’s State Secrets and Blitz Cities which were produced from Northern Ireland for BBC1 and BBC2.
