British pubcaster BBC has bolstered its factual team with the appointment of Liv Little, founder and editor-in-chief of gal-dem, a digital and print magazine run by women of color, for everyone.
Little will join the BBC’s factual commissioning team in a freelance executive producer role. She will work alongside the digital team to help implement a variety of strands of original factual digital content aimed at reaching and engaging younger audiences.
Little has previously had a hand in developing digital content for BBC3. She is also a contributing editor for Elle and has written for The Guardian and Wonderland.
Little founded gal-dem in response to the lack of diversity at her university. The magazine took over an edition of Guardian Weekend magazine earlier this year, and its editorial team currently consists of more than 70 women of color.
“Our original digital content is all about breaking new ground and showcasing new on and off-screen talent and Liv is brilliant at both,” said Daisy Griffith, BBC factual’s commissioning editor for digital, in a statement.
