Premium cable network HBO has secured U.S. rights to Queen of the World, a 60-minute documentary on Queen Elizabeth II, set to premiere Oct. 1.

The film offers a look at Her Majesty The Queen’s role on the global stage and as head of the Commonwealth, as well as her legacy and the future of the throne.

Directed by Matt Hill, Queen of the World was filmed over more than a year, with privileged access to The Queen, her family and her staff, offering behind-the-scenes glimpses at her life and work. The film also makes use of footage from The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh’s private film archives and treasures of the Royal Collection.

Also featured are other members of the Royal Family, including Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Princess Anne; Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge; Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex; and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

Queen of the World was produced by Oxford Films for UK commercial broadcaster ITV. Oxford Films also produced the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, which debuted on HBO in 2017.

The film is produced by Robert Hardman and Faye Hamilton, and is executive produced by Nick Kent.

HBO will premiere Queen of the World on Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It will also be made available on HBO on Demand, HBO Now, HBO Go and on partners’ streaming platforms.
