British broadcaster UKTV’s entertainment channel W has greenlit the latest installment of its Inside The… obs-doc franchise from Brown Bob Productions.

Inside the Operating Theatre will serve as a 20 x 60-minute fixed-rig UKTV Original series that will focus on the day surgery unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Norfolk, England.

The series offers exclusive insight into four operating theaters and a staff of 75 skilled doctors as they carry out a variety of operations and procedures, from cardiology to plastic surgery.

“Day surgery is the future of the NHS, and this series is designed to showcase the incredible level of treatment that can be done in units like this,” said Brown Bob Productions creative director Jacqueline Hewer in a statement.

Brown Bob’s Inside the Operating Theatre for UKTV follows such past iterations of the franchise as Inside the Ambulance (pictured) and Inside the Vets.

Inside the Operating Theatre is executive produced by Brown Bob’s Audrey Neil.

It was commissioned by UKTV’s Hilary Rosen, deputy director of commissioning and head of factual and factual entertainment.

The series was ordered by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, and Steve North, genre GM for comedy and entertainment.

Inside the Operating Theatre will air on UKTV’s W in 2019.
