London-based distribution company DRG has inked a production partnership with Endemol Shine India that will see competitive reality format The Farm adapted to the Indian marketplace.
The award-winning competitive reality show has already run to over 3,000 episodes in more than 50 territories worldwide, including Brazil and Norway. The deal with Endemol Shine India will mark the first for the format in Asia.
Originally developed by Strix Sweden, The Farm sees six men and six women living together as farmers without modern conveniences like electricity. Contestants are eliminated over a 10-week period until one takes home the title of Farmer of the Year.
The format, now in its 12th season on Sweden’s TV4, has since generated celebrity and junior spin-offs, and the digital series, The Cabin. The Farm has been on air consistently since its launch in Sweden in 2001.
