Minnesota-headquartered indie Tremendous! Entertainment (TEI) has named long-time Original Productions executive Sarah Whalen as EVP of development.

Based in Los Angeles, Whalen will lead the expansion of TEI’s unscripted programming slate across broadcast, cable and digital.

Whalen had spent 16 years at Burbank-based television prodco Original, where she served as EVP of programming and development, developing and producing such titles as Deadliest Catch and Bering Sea Gold for Discovery Channel; Jay Leno’s Garage for CNBC; Fire Chasers and The Confession Tapes for Netflix; Storage Wars for A&E; and Ice Road Truckers for History, among others. She most recently served as the interim CEO for Original Productions, spearheading new strategies and profit centers.

Prior to her tenure in television, Whalen directed behind-the-scenes documentaries for feature films.

TEI’s current slate of titles includes the three-time James Beard Award-winning Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern; Daytime Emmy Award winners Rock the Park for ABC and Naturally, Danny Seo on NBC; and Haunted Live for Travel Channel.
