Toronto-based Blue Ant Media has made a number of executive appointments as it looks to build up its North American production efforts, including adding Laura Michalchyshyn (pictured left) and Julie Chang (right) to the team.

Bobby Kennedy For President exec producer Michalchyshyn has signed on as an original programming consultant and producer. Based in New York, she’ll focus on growing Blue Ant’s production slate in the U.S. and Canada, while also connecting the company’s roster of global producers with talent and buyers. Michalchyshyn has a long history in the industry, having previously served in senior exec roles at Alliance Atlantis, Discovery and Sundance Channel. She most recently exec produced Bobby Kennedy for President for Netflix and Crawford for CBC. She also co-founded Sundance Productions with Robert Redford in 2012, through which she co-produced The American West (AMC), Ocean Warriors (Animal Planet), The March (PBS), among others.

Chang, meanwhile, has been appointed VP of international coproduction. Working with Michalchyshyn and Blue Ant’s EVP of global production, Sam Sniderman, Chang will be tasked with identifying and structuring content creation and financing opportunities for Blue Ant Media’s global production businesses. Prior to joining Blue Ant, Chang was SVP of business and legal affairs for Peace Point Rights and Entertainment Group, where she helped build Peace Point’s international rights division.

Blue Ant Media has also promoted Blue Ant Digital Studios’ CCO Dan Lubetkin to the role of SVP of U.S. production and development. Based in LA, Lubetkin will work with Sniderman to grow the company’s U.S. content business. In his role as CCO, Lubetkin helped build a slate of originals including The Sidemen Show for YouTube and Grade A Kitchen, Pixville Nightly and Family of Champions for Facebook Watch.

Lastly, Sniderman will move from Blue Ant’s UK office to LA and work to boost the global production unit’s profile in the U.S.

Blue Ant’s international production division includes NHNZ (New Zealand), Beach House Pictures (Singapore), Antenna Pictures (London), Blue Ant Digital Studios (Los Angeles), Look Mom! Productions (Toronto) and Northern Pictures (Sydney).
