UK commercial broadcaster UKTV has commissioned a docuseries from Brighton-based indie ScreenDog Productions featuring hurricane chaser Josh Morgerman for its entertainment channel Dave

Hurricane Man (8 x 60 minutes) follows Morgerman as he heads into the eye of some of the biggest and most dangerous storms around the world, including Hurricane Florence, which hit North Carolina; and Super Typhoon Mangkhut, which recently devastated the Philippines.

Morgerman and his on-screen team of British producers will provide first-hand accounts from the eye of the storm. The team also looks at the human side of the storm, from sheltering families to emergency rescues on the ground.

Hurricane Man has been ordered for Dave by UKTV’s Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, and Steve North, genre GM for comedy and entertainment. The series was commissioned by UKTV’s senior commissioning editor, Helen Nightingale, who also serves as executive producer for UKTV, alongside Ed Kellie for ScreenDog.

The series will be distributed by BBC Studios.

Hurricane Man joins other UKTV Original programs coming to Dave in 2019, including Expedition With Steve Backshall and Hypothetical with Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster.

Hurricane Man will bow on Dave in 2019 and will also be available on UKTV Play.
