In the new role, Castallo (pictured) will oversee unscripted television development with an eye towards global appeal for Prime Video viewers. His first order of business will be managing the development of Amazon’s as-yet untitled fashion project from Project Runway alums Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, and will also  be involved with producer Mark Burnett’s rebooted Eco-Challenge with host Bear Grylls.

He reports directly to Albert Cheng and Vernon Sanders, co-heads of television at Amazon Studios.

He has worked in unscripted since 2007, when he joined CBS and rose to the role of EVP in 2013. As head of alternative programming at CBS, he oversaw multiple seasons of unscripted series including SurvivorThe Amazing RaceUndercover Boss and Big Brother.

Previously, he held positions at NBC and Tollin/Robbins Productions, working on scripted television content.

Earlier today, Amazon revealed that it had appointed James Farrell to the newly created role of head of international originals for Amazon Studios.
