BoBCat Studios, the multi-platform prodco founded by Thom Beers, Jeff Conroy and Sarah Bernard, has struck a development deal with Züm Media co-founders, Todd Hoffman and Jose Behar, to create a reality competition series.

The tentatively titled Greenhorn Gold will feature Gold Rush creator and star Hoffman (pictured) providing amateur miners with the opportunity to dig for gold. After a massive tryout, the novice miners will be eliminated one-by-one until six remain at the season’s end. Those final six contestants, however, will walk away with life-changing money in raw gold to take home to their families.

BoBCat’s Beers, Conroy and Bernard will executive produce the series alongside Züm Media’s Hoffman, Behar and Franco Porporino.

“Todd is passionate about my two favorite things – telling stories and gold,” said Beers in a statement. “There’s just something about gold that changes a person, and with Greenhorn Gold, we’ll see that transformation first-hand in all its dramatic glory.”

Greenhorn Gold will continue Beers and Conroy’s legacy of high-stakes, blue collar television established during their tenure with Original Productions, including series such as Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers, Bering Sea Gold, Ax Men, Storage Wars, and Monster Garage.

More recently, Beers, Conroy and Bernard announced a production partnership with Prison Break actor William Fichtner for the reality series Heart of the Race, while the previously announced docuseries American Farmer will debut on History in 2019.
