London-based indie producer and distributor Fremantle has tapped 7Wonder Productions co-founder Liza Abbott to the newly created position of chief operating officer for its UK unscripted outfit.

In the role, Abbott will be responsible for commercial activity, legal and business affairs, digital and productions across the company’s unscripted UK labels – Thames, Talkback, Boundless and Shotglass.

Abbott, who stepped down from her role as CEO of 7Wonder in May, reports to Fremantle UK CEO Liam Humphreys when she joins Fremantle this month.

The veteran executive’s experience in the unscripted world spans genres, from shiny floor entertainment to specialist factual and lifestyle.

Before co-founding the Banijay Group-owned media company 7Wonder in 2014, Abbot served in various senior positions across the broadcast and production space, including as commercial director at Maverick Television; controller of production at ITV Studios, and director of production and new business at IMG.
