Lime Pictures, producer of The Only Way Is Essex and Geordie Shore, has teamed with Shiver founder Mark Robinson to launch the Leeds-based, non-scripted label Wise Owl Films.
Robinson will report directly to Lime’s joint MDs Kate Little and Claire Poyser, with whom he previously worked at ITV Studios.
Wise Owl marks a new beginning for Robinson, who left Shiver – the ITV Studios label he set up in 2007 – earlier this year.
As creative director of Shiver, Robinson exec produced more than 200 projects for Shiver, including May The Best House Win, David Jason: My Life On Screen, Last Laugh In Vegas and The Nation’s Favourite. His departure in July ended a 28-year association with ITV.
Joining Robinson and Wise Owl at launch will be BAFTA-nominated Stuart Ramsay (Last Laugh In Vegas, The Miners’ Strike & Me), and RTS-winning producer Kerry Allison (Elton John: The Nation’s Favourite Song, Unbelievable Moments: Caught on Camera).
The launch of the prodco follows the news that Channel 4 is establishing a national headquarters in Leeds.
“This is an incredibly exciting time to be making shows in the North of England – and in particular in Leeds,” said Robinson in a statement. “It feels like a city whose time has finally come; we’re determined that Wise Owl is going to be at the heart of it all, playing a key part in the next step of Leeds’ journey.”
