Discovery-owned cable channel Food Network has brokered a multi-project deal with award-winning actress and New York Times best-selling author Valerie Bertinelli.

The deal includes projects for daytime and primetime, as well as fresh episodes of Kids Baking Championship and the new family-centric culinary competition series, Family Food Showdown. The 13 x 60-minute series will pit one family against another in three rounds of cooking challenges. Episodes culminate in a US$10,000 grand prize awarded to the winning family.

Production on Family Food Showdown beings in December and will premiere on the Food Network in 2019.

“Our viewers have come to enjoy Valerie’s warmth in the kitchen and her unique charm and mentorship with the next generation of bakers on Kids Baking Championship, and with this expanded presence on Food Network, fans can look forward to more to come,” said Courtney White, GM and EVP, programming, Food Network and HGTV, in a statement.
