Animal Planet has partnered with wildlife educator, adventurer and YouTube personality Nathaniel “Coyote” Peterson (pictured, center) to produce an original long-form series set to chronicle wild expeditions and up-close animal experiences.
Produced by Wilderness Productions, the untitled series will follow Peterson as he travels to various destinations to share his experiences with the most fascinating animals on Earth. The animal expert will be accompanied by his crew, which includes director Mark Vins and wildlife biologist Mario Aldecoa.
The project will premiere on the wildlife-focused Discovery brand in 2019.
Peterson hosts several series on his Brave Wilderness YouTube channel – which boasts a subscriber base of 13 million – including 2015′s Emmy Award-winning Breaking Trail, Beyond the Tide, Dragon Tails, Base Camp, Blue Wilderness, Coyote’s Backyard and the forthcoming Jurassic World Explorers digital franchise with Universal Pictures. Each program aims to provide an in-depth look at the animal kingdom in an entertaining way while promoting compassion and welfare for the natural world.
“Coyote is curious, fearless and very passionate about animals and animal conservation, inspiring a whole new generation of animal enthusiasts,” said Kurt Tondorf, Animal Planet’s SVP of development in a statement. “We look forward to sharing his new animal adventures with his ‘Coyote Pack’ of fans and our audiences across all screens around the globe.”
