Tinopolis Group-owned Firecracker Films has elevated executive producers Sam Emmery and Federico Ruiz to the newly created roles of head of documentaries and head of factual entertainment, respectively.

In his new role, Emmery will continue to develop Firecracker’s slate of documentaries and factual series. He joined the company in 2016 as an executive producer after working for Firecracker as a producer-director on various films including Diaries of a Broken Mind and Mermaid Girl. He is currently working on Sex Testers for E4 and Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over for UKTV’s W net. Emmery’s other executive credits include Secret Life of the Human Pups, The Brit Who Tried to Kill Trump and the recent series, Emma Willis: Delivering Babies.

Ruiz, meanwhile, will spearhead Firecracker’s factual entertainment and reality output and work on branded content and U.S. projects. He joined Firecracker in 2013 and has led the flagship U.S. series My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding on TLC for several seasons. Ruiz’s credits on additional Firecracker titles include Dr. Christian Will See You Now, 12 Hours To Cure Your Street and Bad Teen to Ballroom Queen.

In their new positions, they will continue to work with creative director of factual, Emma Morgan, and creative director of Firecracker Scotland, Elspeth O’Hare.
