UK-headquartered indie production group Zinc Media has named Mark Browning as chief executive officer, effective in the first half of 2019.

Browning joins Zinc from ITN Productions, which he launched in 2010 and currently serves as group managing director. He joined ITN nine years ago, at which point the business was a predominantly news focused producer. Under Browning’s leadership, ITN diversified its portfolio to include factual, factual entertainment, sport, and digital content.

Browning will work closely with outgoing CEO David Galan to ensure a smooth transition. Galan is stepping down from the role he’s held since February 2018.

Prior to joining ITN Browning was program director at radio business, Heart 106.2, during its ownership by Chrysalis before being sold to Global Radio in 2007.

“We consider Mark to be one of the industry’s leading operators who has a proven track record of achieving significant growth in revenues and profitability in the factual TV genre, and we believe will be a perfect strategic fit to cement and grow Zinc Media’s ambitions in the UK and international TV markets,” said Peter Bertram, chairman, in a statement. “Mark also has significant digital experience and we continue to believe that the crossover between traditional TV and digital will be a key driver of future growth.”
