LA-based prodco Zero Point Zero, producers of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, has begun filming a feature-length doc about french fries.
Fries! travels the globe to explore the many varieties of fries, with input from well-known chefs, celebrities, food scientists and farmers, as well as a variety of fry aficionados with stories to tell.
The film is directed by Michael Steed (pictured, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown), with Zero Point Zero co-founders Lydia Tenaglia and Christopher Collins serving as executive producers. It is financed by Sir Kensington’s, Unilever’s premium brand of all-natural condiments that celebrates ordinary and overlooked foods. Kelly Mullen and Giles Morrison are executive producing for Sir Kensington’s and Unilever Entertainment.
“In over 17 years of traveling the world filming food, we have always been drawn to the connective tissue that brings people together,” said Tenaglia in a statement. “No other food bridges borders, language and taste more than the humble but delicious fry.
“The opportunity to partner with the Sir Kensington’s team to explore this simple yet universally loved food is core to our company’s mission: to inspire action that connects humanity. From three Michelin star kitchens in Manhattan or Paris to street carts in Lima, you can always find a savory fry.”
