Susanna Dinnage, most recently global president for Discovery-owned Animal Planet, is backing away from what was slated to be her next career milestone – the chief executive post for U.K. soccer organization the Premier League.

Dinnage’s appointment to the post was announced in November and she was slated to begin in January.

Realscreen has received confirmation from a Discovery spokesperson that Dinnage will be continuing in her Animal Planet role.

A brief statement from the Premier League concerning the turn of events read: “Despite her commitment to the Premier League in early November, Susanna Dinnage has now advised the nominations committee that she will not be taking up the position of chief executive.”

She was chosen to replace outgoing executive chairman Richard Scudamore, who announced his departure in June.

Animal Planet was the first of Discovery’s network brands to be led by a global president.
