True crime net Investigation Discovery is delving into the life of American real estate heir and suspected murderer Robert Durst as part of the channel’s ‘Murder Mystery’ franchise.
Robert Durst: An ID Murder Mystery will dig into the twisted world of the infamous New York real estate millionaire by chronicling a decades-long saga involving Durst, starting with the disappearance of his wife, Kathleen, the execution-style murder of his friend, Susan Berman, and the slaying of his neighbor, Morris Black.
Produced by American Media and Jupiter Entertainment, the two-part special takes an in-depth exploration into the cases against Durst in an attempt to offer new information in his many criminal misdeeds.
The mini-series includes exclusive interviews with Kathleen’s brother, sister-in-law and friends; Dick DeGuerin, Durst’s defense attorney; and Susan Criss, the former judge who presided over the 2003 trial for the murder of Black where Durst was acquitted.
Additional interviews in the special include legal experts and journalists who’ve followed the cases over the past four decades, including legal analyst Beth Karas; true crime journalist Diane Dimond; crime reporter Jane Velez-Mitchell; and New York Times reporter Charles Bagli.
The special is executive produced by Allison Wallach, Tim McConville, David Pecker and Dylan Howard. For Investigation Discovery, Pamela Deutsch is senior executive producer, Sara Kozak is SVP of production, Kevin Bennett is GM and Henry S. Schleiff is group president of Investigation Discovery, Travel Channel, American Heroes Channel and Destination America.
Robert Durst: An ID Murder Mystery airs Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Investigation Discovery.
