Brooklyn-based prodco Part2 Pictures has partnered with non-fiction media studio Unfurl Productions to launch a podcast venture.

Under the pact, the two companies will create, develop and produce non-fiction audio programming under the newly minted Ampersound banner for the podcast marketplace. Stories will cover an array of genres with leading talent at the helm.

Current projects in production at Ampersound include a personal story-focused podcast with Lisa Ling (This is Life with Lisa Ling) and Laura Ling; a podcast spotlighting books and authors with Glory Edim, the founder of Well-Read Black Girl, a book club-turned-online community and literary festival; and another featuring Deepak Chopra in partnership with podcast network Cadence13.

Unfurl Productions was launched in April 2017 by Peabody, Columbia DuPont and Front Page award winner Eve Claxton (pictured, right) and bestselling book editor Domenica Alioto. The Brooklyn-based studio serves as a collective of “expert writers, editors and producers” that create non-fiction content across video, books and audio. Its most recent audio project includes an exhibition and podcast series inspired by the Pulitzer-prize winning book, Evicted.

Founded by David Shadrack Smith in 2007, Part2′s production output includes CNN’s This is Life with Lisa Ling and the forthcoming Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, OWN event series Belief with Oprah Winfrey and Showtime’s Dark Net, among others.

“Podcasts are a natural extension for Part2, allowing us to continue to build our work with leading voices while expanding our intellectual property,” said Shadrack Smith (pictured) in a statement. “We’re not only passionate consumers of podcasts now, we are producers utilizing our narrative skills in unique ways and expanding the integrity of our brand in new directions.”

“Our values are perfectly in sync with Part 2, pushing human storytelling across different genres and media,” added Alioto and Claxton. “We’re excited to join a new venture that expands our collective expertise, whether in books, film and television, or audio.”
