Indie content studio Critical Content has expanded its team, anchored by the appointment of Sam Zoda to the role of EVP and head of production.
In his new role, Zoda (pictured) will be tasked with overseeing Critical Content’s slate of new projects, encompassing series, network pilots and presentations for networks.
Zoda’s previous work experience includes leadership positions at ITV Studios America. He also served as executive in charge of production for Dancing With the Stars. Additionally, he helped launch ITV Studios America in 2004 as SVP of production and was later elevated to EVP and COO, head of production and current programming.
Other executive moves at Critical Content include Rob Lobl, who now serves as EVP of development, moving from T Group Productions alongside three other executives. Matt Wrablik joins Critical Content as SVP of development; Matt Pickel has been tapped for the role of creative director of paid development; and Christi DiCecco has been named executive in charge of production.
Critical Content has also promoted executives Ashley Hoff and Bobby Gomez. Hoff has been elevated to SVP of development after serving as VP of development and Gomez takes up the post of VP of strategic development after previously serving as director of development at Critical Content.
This restructuring comes on the heels of Critical Content’s acquisition of television assets from Jenny Daly’s Culver City-based T Group Productions this past November. As part of the agreement, T Group’s slate of television productions was placed under Critical Content’s banner.
“Even as we grow Critical Content through acquisition and international expansion, we’ll always be producers first, determined to come up with the next huge thing,” said Critical Content CEO Tom Forman in a statement. “We’re excited to double down on what we do best, expanding our development and production teams to supercharge both our slate and our production capabilities.”
