Discovery International has launched the new unit Discovery Kids Media to develop, commission, co-produce and distribute kids content across platforms.

Discovery Latin America/U.S. Hispanic EVP and CCO Carolina Lightcap (pictured) will serve as general manager.

Meanwhile, Danielle Davies has been named VP of kids content partnerships and revenue for Discovery Kids Media.

Discovery Kids Media currently has more than 15 projects in development and is working with companies including eOne Family, Zodiak Kids and TV Pinguim.

It is unknown at this time how many projects will be unscripted, but the new unit will produce animated and live-action programming.

“With over 20 years in the Latin America market, Discovery Kids has had long-standing success as the leading pay-TV network for preschoolers, and continues to grow in the region. Discovery Kids Media creates content with a unique creative vision for DK in Latin America and partners around the world,” said Lightcap in a statement. “We are very excited to have Danielle join our team. Her vast expertise in the entertainment distribution industry will now allow us to take our productions to international markets.”
