DRG ups Adam Barth to new commercial director role

London-based content distributor Digital Rights Group (DRG) has promoted Adam Barth to the newly-created position of commercial director, in addition to his role as SVP for EMEA.

Barth (pictured) joined DRG in 2015 as sales manager for CEE and EMEA, before taking on increasing responsibilities as VP for EMEA, CEE and Nordics, and as SVP.

He will retain his responsibility for the EMEA region, with a specific focus on Germany and the Nordics. Other territories will be divided amongst the team, with senior sales manager Lucy Roberts taking on Benelux and Italy, while sales exec Amity Easter-Utley takes CEE.

Barth previously held positions at New Media Vision in format development, sales and business affairs management.

The new role was created to reflect market changes as well as DRG’s expansion into more wide-ranging content business.

Barth’s recent accomplishments include a co-commissioning deal with NENT Group’s TV3 Norway, whereby he will introduce international factual content producers to the Norwegian market via a guaranteed slot, with a commissioning budget from TV3 and DRG.

Barth will continue to report into DRG’s EVP of sales Elin Thomas, and the new appointment is effective immediately.

“In keeping with the evolving nature of distribution the roles of our teams also need to change: multi-faceted approaches to content need flexible, multi-faceted salespeople — and individuals like Adam are leading the charge,” said Thomas in a statement. “He’s a brilliant sales executive and has an unquestionable talent for spotting, nurturing and pushing through commercial opportunities. With this promotion, he will be operating much more closely with both content creators, and platforms where that content finds an audience, in order to generate value for all parties.”
