WarnerMedia Entertainment has slated a summer premiere date for TBS and TNT’s live medical series Chasing the Cure.
Produced by B17 Entertainment and Motiv8 Media, in association with Lionsgate Television, Chasing the Cure (formerly known by its working title M.D. Live) will serve as a weekly two-hour live television broadcast that will aim to help patients suffering from undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or uncredited medical ailments.
Anchored by award-winning journalist Ann Curry (pictured), the 10-part series will allow viewers to share their experiences, advice and recommendations on what’s happening in real-time, all with the aim of finding a cure for people’s mysterious illnesses.
Chasing the Cure will also foster a digital experience and interactive components where viewers can dive deeper into each case to support those dealing with undiagnosed issues, and receive advice and recommendations from accredited doctors on what’s happening during the broadcast in real time. Additionally, anyone can submit their own cases through an in-take process monitored by a 24/7 engaged community which will then be considered for the live broadcast.
“Leveraging the power of a global digital community to help real people solve their medical mysteries is our mission on Chasing the Cure,” said Michael Bloom, SVP of unscripted and live programming for TNT, in a statement. “With Ann and Kim’s leadership and dedication to powerful, honest storytelling, we plan on delivering significant results to those who are in need of answers or a path to wellness.”
Chasing the Cure debuts July 25 and will simulcast on TNT and TBS from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT.
