Ovation takes BBC Studios content
American arts network Ovation has acquired the U.S. broadcast and digital rights to BBC Studios Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond The Lobby.
The net has acquired two seasons of Amazing Hotels (pictured; 13 x 60 minutes), featuring Giles Coren and chef Monica Galetti who journey around the world, working alongside staff in some spectacular hotels. In addition to working with the staff, Coren and Galetti spend time with them outside the hotel to see how they live their lives.
Amazing Hotels: Beyond the Lobby will air on Ovation starting on April 18 and will be available on the network’s AVOD Journy starting in August. Episodes will also be made available on Ovation Now.
Howie Mandel, 60 Second Docs team on talk-doc show
Los Angeles-based Indigenous Media’s digital docuseries 60 Second Docs is partnering with Howie Mandel’s Alevy Productions to expand into the television space.
60 Second Docs: The Show will dig deep into some of the world’s most fascinating and unusual characters. Mandel will work alongside Indigenous Media to develop and produce the talk-doc show.
Since its inception nearly three years ago, 60 Second Docs has produced over 450 documentaries. Indigenous Media recently launched the vertical 60 Second Docs Wealth in collaboration with BlackRock, which explores personal stories about the intersection of wealth and health.
C4 Indie Growth Fund takes minority stake in True Vision Yorkshire
British pubcaster Channel 4 has taken a minority investment in the Leeds-based factual indie True Vision Yorkshire.
This is the second investment in a Leeds-based production company for the C4 Indie Growth Fund, with True North being the inaugural company which Sky acquired in 2017.
True Vision Yorkshire has produced a portfolio of hard-hitting documentaries including Behind Closed Doors for the BBC and The Truth About Muslim Marriage for Channel 4.
Launched in 2014 to provide additional support to the indie British creative sector, the Indie Growth Fund provides access to funding for indies to help them scale and develop their business. To date, the Fund has made 15 investments with 11 companies in its portfolio including Barcroft Media Group, Firecrest Films and Lightbox Media.
