Veteran unscripted executive Paul O’Malley has been appointed VP of development & casting at Redondo Beach, California-based production studio 3 Ball Entertainment.

In the new role, O’Malley will work across the company’s entire slate of unscripted projects and will also lead its casting efforts. He reports to 3 Ball president Ronak Kordestani, effective immediately.

O’Malley joins the Bar Rescue producer from Authentic Entertainment, where he served as head of casting before being named VP of development. During his six-year tenure, he developed and casted several series including TLC’s Trading Spaces and Toddlers and Tiaras, Esquire’s White Collar Brawlers and Knife Fight, FYI’s Waterfront House Hunting and CNBC’s forthcoming Listing Impossible.

While at Authentic, O’Malley was also a board member of Endemol Shine North America’s LGBTQ alliance, part of “Endemol Shine Pride.”

The seasoned executive began his entertainment career working on NBC’s Deal or No Deal? before spending four years producing such unscripted hits as RuPaul’s Drag Race, American Gladiators and Tabitha Takes Over.

“Paul’s enthusiasm and passion for unscripted, along with his sharp eye for talent, are what made him stand out among his peers,” said Kordestani in a statement. “We’re pleased to bring such a well-rounded executive into the fold at a time when we’re branching into uncharted territory and diversifying 3 Ball’s slate with new genres, formats and partnerships.”
