American media conglomerate Discovery has lifted Todd Weiser to SVP of programming and development at Food Network and Cooking Channel.
In the new role, Weiser will continue to oversee a team developing new series, specials and tentpoles for the networks, while also managing all current programming for Food Network and Cooking Channel.
He reports into network president Courtney White.
Weiser joined Food Network in 2013 as VP of programming and development, helping launch a number of franchise offerings, including Holiday Baking Championship, Halloween Baking Championship, Christmas Cookie Challenge and the recent relaunch of Restaurant: Impossible.
Prior to this, Weiser served as director of program development at sister network Animal Planet. There, he was tasked with growing the channel’s audience and developing such unscripted series as Finding Bigfoot, Gator Boys and Too Cute!
He joined the Discovery, Inc. group of networks in 2007 from Picturehouse/Newmarket Films following a three-year stint.
“Todd brings an expertise in creating smart, innovative and audience-pleasing content,” said White, in a statement. “Having the most creative team in place to help lead our development and programming slate remains our top priority and I am excited to see what new and delicious fun Todd brings to this newly expanded role.”
