Factual UK distribution company TVF International has sold two documentary titles, one on an urban rainforest, and another following a restoration of an iconic hotel, into Europe, Australia and the UK.
Both titles are from Singapore-based Beach House Pictures.
Singapore’s Secret Forests with David Attenborough is a 48-minute one-off that explores the wildlife species in the city-state’s urban rainforest. The special captures rare species on cameras for the first time, including tiny mouse deer and banded langurs.
BBC America and Sky UK picked up the latest in Beach House’s Wild City: Singapore franchise, while in Australia, ABC acquired the premiere rights. Discovery Australia and New Zealand and Southeast Asia also secured rights to the special.
Meanwhile Raffles: Remaking an Icon (pictured) is a 2 x 48-minute film on the restorations of Singapore’s iconic Raffles Hotel. It goes behind-the-scenes of the most extensive restoration and renovation in its 130 year history, and features the hotel’s devoted staff who are trying to maintain the luxury hotel’s standard amid construction work.
Discovery in Asia, Foxtel Lifestyle, SBS and Choice TV across Australia and New Zealand picked up the two-parter. In Europe, RTL Netherlands and Medialaan Belgium acquired the doc.
