Dutch non-fiction indie Off the Fence has named former WDR Media Group executive Stefanie Fischer as managing director of sales.

Based in in Amsterdam, Fischer will lead the Off the Fence distribution team with responsibility for the global exploitation of more than 6,500 hours of content from such non-fiction producers and broadcasters as Terra Mater Factual Studios, Smithsonian Networks and WE tv.

Fischer’s appointment comes on the heels of Ludo Dufour‘s departure earlier this month from Off the Fence as managing director of sales and coproductions to join Canadian media conglomerate Blue Ant International’s Los Angeles office.

Most recently, she served as head of content at Germany’s WDR Media Group in Cologne. She previously held a variety of senior titles including director of content sales at ProSiebenSat.1, sales manager at Sony Pictures in Munich, and deputy head of sales at ZDF Enterprises in Mainz.

“Stefanie has a true passion for program sales and a deep understanding of what producers and broadcast clients need,” said Ellen Windemuth, CEO of Off the Fence, in a statement. “She is a team player and has a keen interest in our world. We will benefit from her expertise and her strategic and interpersonal skills.”

“Off the Fence has a consistent and clear vision not only to produce documentaries or trade in programming licenses, but also to empower audiences to care about our planet,” added Fischer.
