UKTV’s entertainment channel Dave is has commissioned a series following Eddie “The Beast” Hall as he takes on eating challenges across the United States.

Eddie Eats America is a 12 x 30-minute series, produced by North One Television, that sees the former world’s strongest man enter the biggest eating and strength challenges, including New York’s biggest sandwich, the Casian crawfish challenge in Houston, an airplane pull, and wrestling giant fish.

Eddie Eats America is commissioned for UKTV by Iain Coyle, head of comedy entertainment, and was ordered by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, and Steve North, genre general manager for comedy and entertainment. The series is executive produced by John Quinn for North One Television, Iain Coyle for UKTV, and will be distributed by All3Media International.

“Eddie is a big character and I don’t mean just because he’s a big unit, although when he came in to see us, he needed two chairs, one for each buttock,” said  UKTV’s Coyle in a statement. “What I was struck by was the strength of his personality and I’m sure the eateries of North America will feel the power of that, as well as his ferocious appetite.”

Eddie Eats America will transmit on Dave later this year and will also be available on UKTV Play.
