Former Complex and Verizon executive Shawn Strickland has been appointed president of Tony DiSanto‘s Allyance Media Group (AMG).
Strickland (pictured), who’s been in the role since February, heads up business operations for AMG and its subsidiaries, including production house DIGA Studios. Additionally, he is responsible for seeking development of unique partnerships that boost the company’s industry presence. The first of those collaborations is the recently penned development, financing and production partnership with full-service real estate brokerage firm Nest Seekers International to develop unscripted real estate lifestyle formats.
Strickland most recently served as EVP of development and distribution at Complex Networks where he led the commissioning of more than 300 hours of premium programming. Prior to this, he spent nearly two decades at Verizon Media where he served in a number of leadership roles focused on building and deploying the company’s video and content strategies. His key roles included head of product strategy and innovation, and head of video products.
“Among independent producers, AMG is uniquely poised to pair creative storytelling with innovative business models as a major point of difference for global distribution platforms,” said Strickland in a statement. “Our Nest Seekers partnership is the first of many innovative collaborations that will bring entertainment in any number of formats to audiences worldwide.”
“Shawn is a strategic thinker with a finely-tuned balance between understanding the evolving industry, envisioning new opportunities, and enacting plans to execute on them seamlessly,” added DiSanto. “His specific expertise and experience on the business side coupled with his passion and taste for the creative make him uniquely suited to step into this role and take the company to new heights. We are truly lucky to have him on board.”
Allyance Media Group was founded by former MTV president DiSanto and financier Matthew Bruderman in 2018. Through its wholly owned subsidiary DIGA Studios, the multi-format media company partners with brands, talent and producers to create, develop and produce scripted, unscripted and branded content for television, film, publishing and podcasting.
DIGA Studios’ has previously produced Teen Wolf and Scream, and is currently in production on 50 States of Terror, executive produced by Sam Raimi for Jeffrey Katzenberg‘s Quibi.
