Realscreen has appointed Joel Pinto (pictured), a long-time events sales manager for parent company Brunico Communications, as its associate publisher.

Pinto, familiar to delegates of the Realscreen Summit and Realscreen West as well as events across Brunico’s other publications and brands, has served as events sales manager for the company since 2009, and in that capacity has been responsible for driving sales to more than 20 events and awards shows within Brunico’s roster, including Realscreen‘s events, Kidscreen Summit, Banff World Media Festival and the Asian Animation Summit, among others.

Prior to Brunico, Pinto served as a partnership executive at Achilles Media, and as a project director and senior account executive for Toronto-based, corporate events company World Trade Group.

Kristen Skinner, senior account manager for Realscreen, will report to Pinto.

Carol Leighton, who has served as Realscreen‘s associate publisher for the past two years has moved out of Toronto, and recently stepped down to take a position with the local paper in her new community.

“Carol was a great add to the brand and has grown our business and developed many new and existing partnerships in her two years with us. We wish her the very best in her new role,” said Claire Macdonald, VP and publisher for Realscreen. “Joel brings with him a wealth of knowledge about our business, strong industry relationships and a ‘can-do’ attitude, and I am delighted that he is now a part of the core Realscreen team.”
