The latest episode from Chuck Braverman’s Westdoc Online features an interview with Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska, co-directors of the acclaimed documentary Honeyland.
The film follows the story of Hatidze Muratova, a beekeeper in North Macedonia, who lives with her elderly mother while taking care of the bees and gathering honey as well. When a new family moves next door, their presence brings both companionship and conflict.
The film took three awards at Sundance in January of this year, including the Grand Jury Prize in the world cinema documentary category. It is now beginning its North American theatrical run, with Neon handling distribution for the territory.
