Corus Studios has inked its first-ever worldwide deal with Netflix for the unscripted series Rust Valley Restorers.
The 8 x 60-minutes History original, produced by Mayhem Entertainment in association with Corus Studios, launches today (Aug. 23) in all territories where Netflix is available (except Canada). The show follows the team behind a car restoration shop in the Rocky Mountains as they transform old cars into collectible treasures.
Corus has been expanding its unscripted output in recent years since the launch of its Studios banner. Rust Valley Restorers was commissioned alongside three other factual titles – Big Rig Warriors (Attraction Images), World Without (Cream Productions) and Stitched (Forté Entertainment) – in March 2018.
Corus Studios has previously sold another unscripted series, Cheer Squad, to Netflix in select territories but this is the first worldwide deal inked between the pair. The division is set to deliver 19 new and returning titles in 2020, up from 11 in 2019, including Vacation House Rules (McGillivray Entertainment), Farmhouse Facelift (Sonar Entertainment) and $ave My Reno (Great Pacific Media).
The deal with Netflix was brokered by Rita Carbone Fleury, who oversees the global sales of Corus’ original content slate.
