HBO’s It Will Be Chaos (pictured) and Hulu’s Crime + Punishment were among the winners at the 40th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, which took place at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York last night (Sept. 24).

The ceremony honored both national and international nominees in more than 50 categories focused on documentaries, news reports and multimedia projects.

The night was dominated by premium pay TV network HBO, which walked away with 10 statuettes. American pubcaster PBS followed closely behind racking up nine awards, while CBS took home six honors. The awards are presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Topping all nominees was CBS’s ’60 Minutes’ which led the event with 23 mentions, while HBO’s Vice News Tonight followed with 18 nominations. PBS, meanwhile, led the way for broadcasters with 47 total nominations, including 12 for long-standing documentary strand ‘Independent Lens’ and 10 for ‘Frontline’.

“Tonight, we honor the news and documentary industry and the men and women who bring us the truth: the story of the world we live in, year by year and day to day,” said Terry O’Reilly, chairman of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in a statement. “It is their commitment to telling the stories of our times – with accuracy and integrity – that we celebrate tonight.”
