Actress, producer and dancer Jenna Dewan is set to host a new dance-based dating format premiering on Fox this winter.

Flirty Dancing combines performance and blind date elements to help contestants find love. Each episode sees two strangers learning half of a dance routine. They then meet for the first time on a blind date where they then dance together without saying a word. By the end, hopefully the pairs will find love.

The series is based on a UK format of the same name, with Dewan (pictured) taking on hosting duties in conjunction with the publication of her first book, Gracefully You, next month and her starring role in the scripted musical drama series Soundtrack, also premiering this winter.

The series is produced by Second Star Productions, part of Objective Media Group, and All3Media America. Second Star’s Deborah Sargeant and Objective Media Group America’s Jilly Pearce¬†will serve as executive producers. Mike Yurchuk serves as executive producer and showrunner.

Flirty Dancing is a truly unique format — it’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. It’s fun, fresh and romantic, and broadens the dating format far beyond its traditional boundaries,” said Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials at Fox Entertainment, in a statement. “Jenna is our dream host. She knows all about how powerful connection and chemistry can be on the dance floor. So there really is no one better to help guide these singles in their search for love.”

A premiere date has not yet been set.
