HBO Max has struck an overall deal with CNN host Lisa Ling, greenlighting the travel docuseries Birth, Wedding, Funeral.

As part of the deal, WarnerMedia’s forthcoming streamer will have a first look at new projects the This is Life with Lisa Ling host (pictured) develops.

Birth, Wedding, Funeral will take viewers to different countries to reveal cultural tradition through the lens of the three universal rituals.

The series concept was created by journalist Dan Rather and Show of Force founders Maro Chermayeff and Jeff Dupre.

Each episode offers an investigation of the human experience to celebrate the diversity of deeply rooted customs around the world, HBO Max stated in a release.

“We are living in a deeply polarized world and I am elated for the opportunity to bring us closer to one another through stories about the most defining moments in people’s lives: their Births, Weddings and Funerals,” Ling said in a statement.

Birth, Wedding, Funeral is produced by Part2 Pictures. Ling serves as executive producer alongside Rather (60 Minutes, The Big Interview) and Philip Kim for News and Guts, Dan Rather’s news, media and production company.

HBO Max is expected to debut in spring 2020.
