Channel 4 acquires A Royal Tour of the 20th Century

Producer-distributor DRG has struck a deal with British pubcaster Channel 4 for the history series A Royal Tour of the 20th Century.

Produced by WildBear Entertainment and originally commissioned by Mediawan Thematics in France, the 4 x 60-minute series (pictured) will premiere on Channel 4′s More4 on Oct. 28.

The series follows the British royal family, and especially Queen Elizabeth, as they influence and participate in a wealth of “defining historical moments.”

DRG has also secured deals for A Royal Tour of the 20th Century with Foxtel in Australia and AMC Networks Central Europe for the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

The live series challenges past MasterChef Junior contestants to participate in cooking demonstrations and challenges.

Quibi, The Dodo team on animal series

Quibi has tapped digital media brand The Dodo as its anchor animal brand for the soon-to-be launched mobile streamer’s ‘Daily Essentials’ lineup.

The partnership includes an original daily series built around The Dodo’s audience insights, offering animal stories tailored to what people need on each day of the week.

“We took a psychological approach when developing this series and considered the question: what emotions are people really seeking to feel each day of the week? We combined this exercise with data around emotional responses to our content, especially emoji reactions to our stories on specific days,” The Dodo founder and CEO Izzie Lerer said in a statement.

The show will be available when Quibi launches in April 2020.
