Los Angeles-headquartered Gunpowder & Sky has appointed Optomen Television consultant Paul Evans as head of unscripted in the UK.
Evans (pictured) will report to the entertainment company’s UK creative director Pasa Mustafa. He will oversee all unscripted outputs, from development to sales, working with the London-based creative team and colleagues in New York and Los Angeles.
He boards Van Toffler and Floris Bauer’s Gunpowder & Sky with more than 15 years of industry experience.
At Optomen Television, Evans worked across a slate of forthcoming productions and reshaped a major heritage series for the BBC.
Previously, he was Primal Media’s head of development for more than three years, responsible for developing ITV’s Bigheads, Sky1′s Carnage and the recently commissioned Home Free for Channel 4.
He has also created and developed original formats for prodcos such as Studio Lambert, WarnerBros, ITV Studios and Pulse Films.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me – I’ve been following Gunpowder & Sky’s journey for some time, impressed and inspired by their vision, ambition and of course, content,” Evans said in a statement. “Working with highly respected media heavyweights, Van and Floris, and content pioneer, Pasa, was a huge draw for me, and I can’t wait for us to start creating and delivering stories and formats, together.”
