New Europe Market (NEM), the organizer behind the NEM Dubrovnik conference, is prepping a sister event in Zagreb, Croatia, and has announced its first wave of speakers for the December event.

Among those joining the conference, which takes place from December 11-13 at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, are Harold Gronenthal, executive vice president, programming and marketing for AMC Networks International; European Alliance, the consortium of European broadcasters including ZDF, Rai and France Télévisions; and production outfits BBC Studios and Keshet, among others, who will present screenings of new programming at the event.

Global unscripted programming and the current state of the formats business will be examined at the event, with a session moderated by Realscreen editor and content director Barry Walsh and featuring Global Agency founder and CEO Izzet Pinto (pictured); Larry Bass, founder and CEO of Irish prodco Shinawil; Andrew Sime, VP of formats at Banijay Rights; and Ryszard Sibilski, managing director, Endemol Shine Poland.

Also featured in the agenda: a TV writing contest designed to highlight screenwriting talent in scripted and unscripted. One winner from each category will win a grand prize of €5,000. Jury members for the contest include representatives from Croatian Radio-television (HRT), Rai, Beta Film and Zig Zag Productions.

Croatian Radio-television is also a key partner in the event, and will present its programming at an opening ceremony for the conference, and will also host a closing celebration at its building in Prisavlje.
