Fiona Lang and Ryan Shiotani have been tapped as new general managers for BBC Studios in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
Lang (pictured left) will head up Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) as GM. She currently serves as chief operating officer for ANZ, a role she has held since 2014 after joining BBC Studios in 2012.
As GM, Lang will lead the Sydney-based branded services (including marketing, advertising and creative), commercial and content sales teams.
Meanwhile, Shiotani (right) will lead South and Southeast Asia as GM. Based in Singapore, he will lead the branded services, marketing, creative, content and affiliate sales teams in South East Asia and India.
He is currently acting SVP of branded services for Asia, and joined BBC Studios in 2007 as director of programming for Asia, overseeing the editorial direction of the company’s branded services, including programming, acquisitions, presentation planning and media planning.
Lang and Shiotani will both report directly to Jon Penn, executive vice president of the newly-formed BBC Studios Asia Pacific regional business, announced in September.
“I’m delighted to promote these outstanding leaders to the roles of general manager and have every confidence that they are the right people to lead the teams to the next level of growth in the APAC region,” said Penn, in a statement.
“As COO for ANZ, Fiona has clearly demonstrated her strategic and commercial ability, as well as an aptitude for project and team leadership. Ryan has successfully developed and led the branded services portfolio in Asia, recently stepping up as acting SVP for branded services and demonstrating his business leadership credentials.”
